This week, Southern forces in Yemen announced the launch of extensive security operations against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in Abyan governorate and Wadi Hadramout. At the same time, a soldier was wounded in a drone attack targeting a military position in the Al-Abr area, near sites hosting military deployments loyal to the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia.

In Taiz, at least three people were killed in an explosion that struck the headquarters of the Islah Party (the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen). The party said that two of its members were among those killed. Taiz’s Interior Ministry stated that 14 individuals had been arrested in connection with the attack.

Following the takeover by the Southern Transitional Council of Hadramout and Al-Mahrah, and the disruption of weapons smuggling routes to the Houthis, Emirati media reports said the Houthis had begun massing forces, military equipment, and missile launch platforms along the southern borders, apparently in preparation for attacks on southern Yemen.

Meanwhile, the frontlines in Al-Dhalea and Lahj witnessed intermittent clashes with Houthi forces, including shelling with mortar fire.

South24 Center publishes this interactive map highlighting the most prominent security events that took place during the past week, from December 13 to 19, 2025.
