A military source told South24 Center on Monday (September 7) that the Southern Giants Brigades have launched a military operation toward Houthi militia positions in Al-Bayda governorate, bordering the Al-Hadd front in Yafa, amid a rapidly accelerating field escalation across several fronts.

The source added that the Giants Brigades subsequently took control of two areas in Al-Zahir district, Al-Bayda governorate, with no immediate details available regarding casualties or the exact nature of the captured positions.

A military source told South24 Center that two Southern Giants Brigades soldiers were killed in clashes with the Houthis inside Al-Bayda governorate.

Footage was published reportedly showing the ongoing military operation by the Southern Giants Brigades targeting Houthi positions in Al-Bayda from the Yafa front, highlighting field movements in the area.

Meanwhile, Yemeni Defense Ministry Spokesman Majed Al-Nuzaili stated that government-backed forces are "advancing steadily and achieving victories" on the Al-Jawf and Al-Bayda fronts, calling on Houthi elements to evacuate axis points with their light weapons "to protect their lives."

In Al-Jawf, local sources told South24 Center that reports indicate government-backed forces have launched a military operation against the Houthis, while circulated footage showed an airstrike targeting Camp Al-Labinat.

The Houthi military spokesman claimed that the group shot down a Saudi "Wing Long 2" reconnaissance drone over Al-Bayda on Sunday morning, alleging it was the third within 24 hours. No immediate Saudi comment has been issued regarding this claim.

Houthi media also reported that Saudi airstrikes and cruise missiles targeted the governorates of Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Taiz, coinciding with expanding clashes. Saudi Arabia has not confirmed these strikes as of publication time.

In a separate claim, the Houthis stated they targeted trucks loaded with military equipment—allegedly arriving from Saudi Arabia to the Al-Wudiah camp—using ballistic missiles. No immediate Saudi or official government comment has been released regarding this claim.

Addressing the recent escalation, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg stated that recent Houthi attacks across multiple fronts have escalated clashes, warning that this "threatens to widen the scope of the conflict" and represents a "highly dangerous" development.

Grundberg expressed deep concern over reports of civilian casualties, family displacements, and damage to civilian infrastructure, warning that a return to large-scale fighting would have dire consequences for civilians and further complicate the political path.

The UN Envoy urged all parties to halt all hostilities, exercise utmost restraint, and utilize existing channels—including the UN Military Coordination Committee—to prevent further escalation.

These developments follow a day of widening clashes across Taiz, the Western Coast, Al-Jawf, Dhalea, and Al-Bayda, signaling a shift in the escalation from sporadic attacks to broader multi-axis operations.
