One person was killed and three others were injured in a motorcycle bomb explosion on Sunday night (March 9), in the city of Sanah in South Yemen's Al-Dhalea governorate, according to a statement issued by the Security Belt forces.

A Security Belt source said that initial investigation reveals that the motorcycle was being readied to carry out an attack on a certain target but it exploded before reaching it.

According to the source, the explosion occurred in the east of Sahdah Street, north of the city, killing the motorcycle driver immediately.

The statement added that an identity card, bearing the name ’Hamza Saeed Al-Sufi‘ from Taiz governorate, was found amidst the remains of the victim, which makes it likely that he was the driver of the motorcycle.

The Security Belt forces stated that the incident is part of attempts to disrupt the security and stability in Al-Dhalea, and South Yemen in general, and stressed that they won't hesitate to confront such acts.

According to the statement, the Security Belt forces, led by Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Qobba, are on high alert to monitor any suspicious movements, and vowed to pursue and arrest those involved in the incident.

The incident came a day after a visit by President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, to Al-Dhalea as part of a local tour, including to other governorates in South Yemen.

Al-Zubaidi, who also serves as Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), warned that the Houthis will pay a heavy price if they think of any military adventure, and added that the Iran-backed group has become very vulnerable.
