Prominent Southern Commander Killed in an AQAP Attack in Abyan

Today, a commander in the Southern forces was killed in an explosive device attack that was likely carried out by AQAP in the center of Abyan governorate (east of the capital, Aden).
A security source told "South24 Center" that the commander of the 3rd battalion in the Security Belt Forces in Abyan governorate, Fawzi Al-Bakri, was killed in an explosive device explosion that targeted a military vehicle in Mudiyah district.
Since the beginning of 2023, the extremist AQAP organization has carried out dozens of attacks with explosive devices against the Southern forces in Abyan governorate, after losing its most important strongholds the previous year.
The Southern forces were able to achieve unprecedented victories against the organization in the central areas of Abyan governorate, as part of the "Arrows of the East" operation, which was launched last September.
