Aden: Thwarting a Smuggling Attempt of 464 Kilograms of Drugs

On Wednesday, Southern security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle 464 kilograms of drugs at the western entrance to Aden, South Yemen. 

Security Belt Forces (SBF) represented in its branches which are responsible in securing the governorate's entrances and exits, reported that they had thwarted an attempt to smuggle 282 kilograms of hashish and 182 kilograms of the narcotic amphetamine.

The security forces reported that this quantity of drugs was on board a transport truck and it was seized at "Ras Omran" checkpoint, west of Aden.

The security forces indicated that the 40-year-old truck driver was "transferred to the legal authorities to take measures."

It should be noted that Aden witnessed many attempts to smuggle drugs, the most prominent of which was the capturing of 250 kilograms of cocaine in a shipment of sugar at the port of Aden, in October 2020.

Southern security forces also thwarted dozens of attempts to smuggle different types of drugs in Abyan governorate from governorates controlled by government forces heading towards Aden.
