The Houthi group launched a drone attack in the early hours of Sunday (October 12) on Southern forces' positions in the Al-Jub front, located in the Hajar area northwest of Al-Dhalea governorate, resulting in the death of two soldiers and injuries to two others, a military source in the Southern Armed Forces told South24 Center.

The attack occurred while a Southern forces unit was stationed on the frontlines, the source said, adding that an explosive-laden drone was launched by the Houthis from areas under their control.

He added that the Southern forces retaliated by conducting a precise operation in which they successfully destroyed a Houthi militia supply unit in the Tal Al-Ma'zoub area adjacent to the town of Sabira.

The northern and western fronts of Al-Dhalea periodically witness clashes and mutual attacks involving drones and artillery between Southern forces and the Houthi group, representing one of the most active frontlines since the outbreak of the war in the country.

Over the past week, Southern forces' fronts have seen a noticeable escalation in military activities, primarily concentrated in Al-Dhalea and Lahij provinces.

In Al-Dhalea, a Southern soldier was injured by a Houthi mortar shell on October 4, followed days later by a drone attack on the Karsh front in Lahij governorate on October 7, which resulted in additional casualties among Southern forces.

Simultaneously, Southern forces carried out pursuit operations against Houthi elements who attempted to infiltrate contact areas in Lahij.
