The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that the Republic of India has officially opened a representative office for its embassy in the temporary capital, Aden, effective October 1. The move is seen as a significant step reflecting the depth of historical relations between the two nations.
In a statement, the ministry confirmed that the office is located in the Diplomatic Quarter of Khor Maksar district, emphasizing that its establishment represents an important diplomatic addition to the city of Aden.
The statement further clarified that the office will facilitate services for Yemeni citizens, particularly patients seeking medical treatment in India, while also handling consular and administrative matters, including visa processing and addressing issues related to Yemeni students and residents in India.
India remains one of Yemen’s key partners in the fields of energy, pharmaceuticals, and education. Thousands of Yemeni patients travel to Indian hospitals annually for medical care, while hundreds of Yemeni students are enrolled in Indian universities and educational institutions.
The Yemeni government continues to encourage countries to reopen their embassies in Aden, citing the sustained improvement in security conditions the city has witnessed in recent years.
