Today, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) held a meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the ambassadors of the United States (US), Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), France, and the United Kingdom (UK) to discuss political and economic stability in Yemen.
According to the official Saba News Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the PLC and the five major countries in light of the security and humanitarian challenges that have plagued Yemen for years.
According to the statement, the PLC affirmed its commitment to continuing economic and security reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people and enhancing regional stability.
"The ambassadors welcomed the PLC's vision for economic reform, praising the progress made in governance and the development of basic services, and affirmed their countries' commitment to supporting Yemeni institutions," the statement added.
The meeting stressed "the strong partnership between the PLC and the main international allies, and enhancing common goals, to support peace, security, and stability in Yemen."
The meeting comes amid a major economic crisis in Yemen, and the failure to pay salaries to employees in areas controlled by the Internationally Recognized Yemeni Government in recent months.
Last month, Riyadh witnessed intensive meetings on Yemen between the PLC members, international ambassadors, Saudi officials, and the United Nations (UN) envoy.
In a related development, the US Central Command announced that it launched a precision airstrike on Monday against a facility belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen.
It said in a statement on the X platform: "CENTCOM forces conducted a precision airstrike against a key command and control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sanaa".
"The targeted facility was a hub for coordinating Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden," the statement added.
