The Aden Security Department today inaugurated the new building of the Criminal Investigation Department prison, funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of a series of security projects supported by Abu Dhabi in South Yemen.

The Aden Security Department announced on Facebook that the new building of the prison of the Criminal Investigation Department was opened with the support of the Emirates, and that it adheres to standards and laws concerning prisoners' rights.

Previously, on August 19, the Aden Security Department had opened its new Security Administration building, also rehabilitated with UAE support, after being damaged during the 2015 conflict in the city.

Additionally, on August 25, the Aden Security Department opened a maintenance workshop for security vehicles, again with funding from the UAE, which continues to strengthen its relations with the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Furthermore, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior yesterday inaugurated a new police building in the Mayfa'a district of Shabwa governorate, also with UAE funding. This marks the fourth new security center opened in the governorate in 2024, following the inauguration of the General Security Administration building in the city of Ataq last May, and the Patrol Police and Radhum district Police buildings in January.

Over recent years, the UAE has contributed to the construction of security centers and facilities in several Southern governorates, aiding in the restoration of security and stability following the 2015 conflict.

The UAE remains a key partner of the STC in counter-terrorism operations against extremist organizations such as AQAP and ISIS.

The Houthi-Saleh war in 2015 severely damaged much of the security infrastructure in South Yemen.
