Al-Muhrrammi to oversee security and counter-terrorism in Southern Forces

On Thursday, Major General Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), appointed his deputy, Abdulrahman Al-Muhrrammi, to oversee the security and counter-terrorism file within the Southern Armed Forces. 

The Aden Independent Channel reported that Al-Muhrrammi's responsibilities will include full supervision of the security and counter-terrorism forces, along with restructuring these forces to enhance their effectiveness.

The appointment comes amid increased attacks by extremist organisation al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) against Southern forces in Abyan Governorate in recent weeks, as well as the recent arrests of high-ranking Houthi commanders in Aden.

Al-Muhrrammi, who also serves as a member of the PLC and vice president of the STC, is the commander of the Southern Giants Forces. His leadership gained prominence during battles against the Houthis on Yemen's western coast.
