The US State Department announced that the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, is visiting the Arabian Gulf this week to continue diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Yemen.

“Lenderking is traveling to the Gulf this week to advance ongoing UN-led peace efforts in Yemen and support regional coordination to reach a durable end to the conflict," the statement said.

The statement added: "Lenderking will meet with Yemeni, Saudi, Omani, Emirati and other international partners to discuss the necessary steps to secure a durable ceasefire and launch an inclusive, political process led by the UN".

The United States renewed its commitment to working to reach a peaceful solution to the years-long conflict in Yemen.

Lenderking warned of the danger of the broader regional conflict undermining peace in Yemen, after the Houthis participated in five missile and drone attacks against Israel in recent weeks.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7th, interest in the Yemeni situation has declined significantly as the international community focuses on preventing the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East region.
