Yesterday, the Iran-backed Houthi militia called for a boycott of Israeli products in support of Palestine amidst the unprecedented war that broke out yesterday.

A statement issued by the Houthis' Supreme Political Council in Sanaa said: "We call on the Arab and Islamic countries to take positions in support of the Palestinian people [..], and to boycott American and Israeli products".

In a separate statement, the Houthi Foreign Ministry in Sanaa called on the United Nations Security Council to intervene and stop the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Houthi loyalists organized several marches expressing solidarity with Hamas. Attendees were heard chanting the group's slogan, part of which says, "Death to America, Death to Israel."

Meanwhile, the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the internationally recognized government to protect Palestinian civilians. The statement said: “We call for an end to Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people.”

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has yet to comment on the events unfolding in Palestine. In February 2021, STC President Aidrous Al-Zubaidi announced his readiness for normalizing ties with Israel upon the return of the state of South Yemen.

Since yesterday, the Gaza Strip and adjacent Israeli settlements have been witnessing violent battles after Hamas launched operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel.

Mohammed Deif, the supreme military commander of the military wing of Hamas, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said: "I call on our brothers in the resistance in Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Iraq and Syria to unite with the resistance in Palestine".

Deif’s appeal to the resistance in Yemen refers specifically to the Houthis. The Houthi militia has not engaged in or officially endorsed any hostile actions against Israel since its emergence.
