Two soldiers from the Southern forces were killed and three others were wounded, earlier this morning, in an attack by gunmen believed to be from AQAP in Shabwa governorate.
The Shabwa Defense Forces (a branch of the Southern forces) announced that it had repelled a "terrorist attack" on a security checkpoint in Al-Musina'a area of Al-Saeed district, in Shabwa governorate.
The official Deraa Aljanoob (Southern Shield) website reported that a member from AQAP was killed and two others were wounded while responding to the attack on the security checkpoint.
South24 correspondent in Shabwa governorate reported that military reinforcements of the Southern forces arrived from the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa, to the attack area.
"South24 Center" obtained information that drones of the Saudi-led Coalition launched an air strike on the positions of AQAP militants.
The attack came just hours after AQAP released a new video attacking the Southern forces and the UAE and accusing them of implementing Israeli-American agendas.

AQAP suffered severe defeats at the end of 2022 in Abyan governorate at the hands of the Southern forces, but it has significantly escalated its attacks since the beginning of 2023.
