The Southern Transitional Council has discussed on Tuesday the economic crisis in South Yemen and warned from the constant absence of the Riyadh Agreement's government, formed in December 2020.

The meeting discussed deteriorating services and the delay of salary payment, according to official STC media. The council has also accused "influential powers in the pyramid of the Yemeni presidency" that act on the policy of "collective punishment" towards Southerners.

Most of the new parity government cabinets have left the capital city "Aden" after angry public protests reached Al-Maashiq Palace, the government headquarter in March 2021.

The Council has also pointed out the necessity of the urgent return of the government to Aden and maintain its role in "delivering their commitment and duties".

STC president, Aidros Al-Zubaidi, has stated that the STC "feels the suffering of the Southern people, lives their pain and stands firmly with them".

The Council "will not stand by, watching Southerners suffer and it [STC] will have a decisive stance that guarantee them a decent life" warned Al-Zubaidi.

Aden, and South Yemen cities witness a wide-range deterioration of services and a long and constant power outage in parallel to the beginning of the "extreme" heat season and the spread of fever illnesses.

"Although a new government is formed as a result of implementing the Riyadh  Agreement, and the past year conflict between the Yemeni government and STC has stopped, the government performance in addressing the economic challenges has remained unchanged during the last few months of 2021," said economic experts. The government, however, justify this to the lack of economic and financial resources.
