Yemen's Houthi group announced on Monday (September 15) that they had executed an attack using four drones targeting Ramon Airport near the southern Israeli city of Eilat and a military site in the Negev region.

The group's military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated in a post on platform X that three drones hit the airport while the fourth targeted a military site, adding that the operation successfully achieved its objectives.

He clarified that the attack came in response to Israeli crimes in Gaza and Israeli aggression against Yemen.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on casualties or damages. Hebrew-language reports mentioned activated sirens in southern Israel and aerial interceptions of drones without any recorded injuries.

Escalation between the Houthis and Israel has notably intensified over the past week. On September 7, a Houthi-launched drone struck the arrival hall at Ramon Airport near Eilat, resulting in minor injuries and limited damage.

The following day, the Israeli military announced intercepting another drone heading south, triggering sirens and temporary airspace closure around the airport.

On September 10, Israel responded with airstrikes on Sana'a and Al-Jawf, resulting in 211 casualties, according to Houthi authorities. These strikes were among the most severe since the escalation began.

On Sunday, September 14, the Israeli military announced intercepting another drone launched from Yemen toward southern Israel without recorded losses.

Today's attack adds another chapter to the cycle of strikes and interceptions, amid growing concerns over an expanding confrontation sphere.

Separately, on September 12, the UN Security Council condemned the Houthis' continued detention of UN staff and humanitarian workers, demanding their immediate release.
